Opening up

Est. 1967

Fifty-nine years
of the same trade.

Gerald Worley opened the shop on Highway 70 in 1967. Chuck Haynie is the one holding the clippers now. The trade has not changed, the town has not moved, and the price is still spelled out in plastic letters on a board by the mirror — which is very much the point.

A barbershop on the Highway 70 corridor through Swannanoa. It has been cutting hair on the same road ever since.

Today

Chuck Haynie behind the chair

Same trade, same town, same fourteen-dollar haircut. His daughter cuts here too. Still open Tuesday through Saturday.

The gentleman in the chair is James Lamb, photographed in the shop in 2026 — the same fourteen-dollar haircut, at the same address, in the fifty-ninth year of it.
